wagirl2.JPG (29879 bytes) Here is a cold cast ceramic project that I started in the summer. As you can see I have just painted her clothes and her skin and started coloring her hat. Doing this gives me an idea of how to paint her eyes, the buttons on her overalls and other detailed area's. I really like to pay attention to detail as that is what I like about these wonderful Wee-Folk. Detail to me give the statue it's own personality.

I am painting her with acrylic paints and when she is finished I will spray her with a matted fixative and she will be ready to spend her summer's next to our pond, continually watering the flowers there.

I will show her progress and some of the detail area's that are important to pay close attention to, to give that realistic look to her. I use acrylic paints, I am not sure of the grade. I have a link in my Links & Books page to "Innovative Art" that you can find good information on acrylic graded paints.

bubble.JPG (25591 bytes) This is my little bubble girl. Her dress has been painted with pink acrylic paint that give the appearance of silk or satin. The name of the paint is "Liquid Pearls." It goes on very smooth and you only need one coat to paint your piece with unless you want to give it a more satinish look. Here I like the silky look on her.

I will show her in progress too, as I have only started with her hair dress and socks. The last thing that I usually paint on my cold cast ceramic projects is any ground area that the statue may be standing on. The reason I do that is while painting other parts that would require you to hold the project say side ways or even upside down, I would then have less chance of smearing ground cover color on any other part of the project.
